Chamber Priorities
The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, Inc. knows that businesses join the Chamber for many different reasons. When those many reasons are collectively considered, they center on four primary roles which the Chamber of Commerce has adopted as priorities for servicing its membership and the broader community. Those roles are identified below:
Serve as a Strong and Respected Advocate for Business
The Chamber is actively engaged at all levels of government representing the business community on many issues impacting our economy, public education, regulations, land-use, taxes & fees, public infrastructure, healthcare costs, transportation, workforce development, affordable housing and quality of life in our state capital of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and Maryland. Our efforts are conducted through focused Chamber committees, which include our Government Matters Committee, Economic Development Committee, Education Committee, and other various taskforces.
Serve as an Excellent Resource for Business
The Chamber seeks to be a one-stop resource for its members and those in the community seeking to start a business or relocate a business to our region. We have developed strategic partnerships with the SBA, SCORE, Anne Arundel Community College, Business & Workforce Development Center, and the Small Business Resource Center to provide quality and dependable assistance to those businesses seeking best practices, access to timely market data, regional economic trend data, and general business information important to successfully operating and growing a business in Anne Arundel County. The Chamber also offers excellent leadership development opportunities through it committees and community efforts for those businesses who want to provide their employees with hands-on leadership experience.
Assist Businesses in Growing their Customer Base
The Chamber provides extensive opportunities for it members to network among each other and to promote business development in our region. Monthly after hour’s mixers, morning power breakfasts, leads groups and referrals are among the networking opportunities available to Chamber members. In addition, the Chamber is on the cutting edge of developing virtual networking opportunities for members who seek new customers and to expand their market reach. The many opportunities made available through the Chamber for members to grow their customer base are complimented by an active Chamber media campaign that promotes consumer shopping and buying from Chamber members.
Promote Business and Corporate Citizenship in the Community
The Chamber of Commerce provides many opportunities for it members to become actively involved in important community initiatives that support civic and charitable programs in our region. These initiatives are supported by the Chamber’s 501c3 Foundation. Business members and their employees who seek to contribute their time, talent and resources for the betterment of the community can find many avenues at the Chamber to pursue their business and corporate citizenship interests. From volunteering to participate in the public schools’ Career & Technology initiatives, to getting involved with the Maryland Seafood Festival that raises over $200,000 annually for local charities, there are many opportunities to make a positive difference and help make your community a better place to live, work and recreate.
